The one rule for every sales CV
Put your results, with numbers, where a recruiter looks first: your profile and the top of each job. Targets hit, rankings, growth, new accounts and awards tell a sales manager more than any list of duties. "Responsible for managing key accounts" could describe anyone in the job; "Grew 22 key accounts by 19% in 2025" describes you.
What South African sales managers check first
- Did you hit target? % of target, and for how long.
- What did you sell, and to whom? The product, the customers and the area.
- Can you open doors? New accounts, listings or customers you brought in.
- Will you stay and grow? Time in each job, promotions and awards.
- The basics for the role: driver's licence and own car for field jobs, languages for call centres, RE5 for insurance advice, PPRA status for property.
Before you send it
- Two pages, one column, saved as a PDF with your name in the file name.
- The job title and key words from the advert in your profile and skills.
- No ID number, photo or marital status unless the advert asks.
- A short cover letter that names the job and your one or two best results.
