Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Mr Sales CV is run by Anton Davie, a sole proprietor based in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa ("we", "us"). This policy explains what personal information we handle when you use mrsalescv.co.za, and your rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
Your CV stays on your device
The CV builder runs in your web browser. Your CV and the personal details you type (your name, contact details, the companies you worked for, your numbers and your qualifications) are not sent to us and are not stored on our servers.
So you don't lose your work, your browser keeps a copy of your answers on your own device (in its local storage). You can delete it at any time by pressing Start over in the builder, or by clearing your browser's data for this site.
Anonymous information that helps us improve
Under the Generate my CV button there is a box, ticked unless you untick it, that lets you help other sales people. When it's ticked and you've finished with your CV (you pay, download, send feedback or leave the page), we receive an anonymous list of:
- which ready-made options you tapped (for example "Closing deals"), your industry, the role you're applying for, and which number questions you answered (not the numbers themselves); and
- the short options you typed into "add your own" and "Other (type it)" boxes, such as job titles, award names, courses, qualifications and institutions; and
- the changes you made to your finished CV (for example "made it shorter" or "changed the colours") and which improvement tips you used.
This list has no name, contact details or CV in it, and it isn't linked to you or to your payment. We read the options people type before any of them are shown to other customers, and we remove or edit anything that could identify a person or a company. Untick the box if you'd rather not share.
We also count, without identifying anyone, how many people open the form, preview a CV, click pay and download, so we can see where the site needs work.
Requests you type to us
If you use Something else (type it) in the "Want to change something?" panel or in the feedback questions, we receive what you typed, with your industry but without your name or contact details. Please don't include personal details; we remove anything that identifies a person or company.
Feedback
After your CV is made you can answer a few tap-only questions. If you send them, we receive your answers together with your industry, the role you're applying for, whether you paid, roughly how long the form took and how many jobs, number questions and wins you filled in. We don't receive your name or contact details unless you tick "Mr Sales CV may WhatsApp me about my answers". Then we also receive your first name and cell number, and we only use them to contact you about your feedback.
Reviews
If you've paid and choose to leave a review, we receive your star rating, your comment, the first name, job title and town you enter, and your order code (so we know the review is from a customer). We only show it on our website if you ticked the box allowing it and we've checked it. Ask us and we'll delete it.
Which link brought you here
Links we share on social media end in a short label such as ?src=facebook. When you arrive on one, your browser remembers the label for 30 days, and our server adds one to an anonymous count for that platform (and to a second count if you then buy a CV). This tells us which platforms are worth our time. It doesn't identify you.
Spam protection
To stop people flooding the site with fake answers, our server limits how often one visitor can send them. For this it keeps a scrambled code made from your IP address and the date. The code can't be turned back into your IP address, it changes every day, and we clear old codes out regularly, usually within two days.
Payments
Payments are processed by Yoco or Payfast, South African payment providers. You enter your card or bank details on their secure payment pages, not on our site, and we never see or store them. They tell us a payment reference, the amount and whether the payment succeeded. We keep this to unlock your download and for our accounting records.
Website and hosting
Our site is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any website host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We may use Cloudflare's privacy-friendly visitor statistics, which count visits without cookies and without identifying you.
A few photos on our home page are loaded from Unsplash's image servers (images.unsplash.com). Like any website, those servers receive technical details such as your IP address when your browser fetches the pictures.
What we keep, and for how long
- Payment status records (a payment reference, amount and date): kept in our system for up to one year so you can download again.
- Accounting records of payments: kept for five years, as South African tax law requires.
- Anonymous option counts and typed options: kept for as long as they help us improve the builder. They don't identify you.
- Reviews: kept while they're shown on the site, or until you ask us to remove them.
- Feedback answers: kept for up to two years. If you allowed us to contact you, we delete your first name and number once we've followed up, or sooner if you ask.
- Messages you send us (for example a refund request): kept only as long as we need them to help you.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we only share it with Yoco, Payfast and Cloudflare as described above.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Contact us using the details below. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
